The following are links to the documentation submitted to the DOE for the Gable Home. All documents are in PDF format. Need a PDF viewer? Download Adobe Reader.

Construction Documents

As part of the competition and as required to successfully build the Gable Home, the team created a full set of construction documents detailing every aspect of the home. If you are interested in learning more about how the home was actually built and how all the different technolgies were integrated, download our construction documents.

Project Manual

Another vital part of achieving a successful entry to the competition was full documentation of the different aspects of the home, our design intents, product information and energy analysis. This project manual contains the construction specifications, rules compliance checklist, structural calculations, energy analysis and subjective contest support documents.

Communications Plan

Through approaches like the web site that you are reading now, the Illinois team was committed to maintaining an open and inviting presence within the community throughout the entire Solar Decathlon process in order to maximize public involvement and interest. In order to do this, we created a communications plan that set goals, recognized success to date, and acted as a guide for students in the future.

Safety Plan

One of the primary goals of the Solar Decathlon is safety, both of the students who built the home and the individuals visiting. In addition to meeting all required codes, the team has created a safety document that serves as a reference for students throughout the process. It details standard practices, required safety equipment and emergency plans. We have required each student to read the safety plan and if you are interested, we would like to invite you to review it as well.

Dinner Menu

One aspect of the Solar Decathlon that will help determine our score is a dinner party hosted within the home for 8 students from various teams. We will host parties on the 9th and the 12th and you can view the menu we will be serving. It will use herbs grown in our garden, locally source food and midwestern style offerings.
